Abstract

This paper presents the results of a three-month study conducted using the fiche database service offered by a major approval plan vendor and three review tools. The object of the study was to assess the utility of the fiche service to a selector for determining the status of new publications with respect to his/her library approval program at the time of review. A secondary objective was to assess the usefulness of the fiche service as a tool for monitoring the effectiveness of the vendor's interpretation and implementation of a library's approval plan profile.
