Abstract

This paper describes the results of an analysis of several GPS based positioning systems, which have been designed to allow accurate positioning of the surface element of a seafloor-to-surface acoustic array. The results of covariance analyses are discussed. The precision, accuracy, and data rates required from the GPS receiver are given.
