Abstract

The winter sampling of the sediment nutrient exchange rate study of Hillsborough Bay has been completed. These results constitute the interim report of the winter nutrient exchange sampling of Phase II as described in the Plan of Study submitted to the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation on March 31, 1986. The results include winter SOD rate estimates in sandy and muddy sediments. Results also include winter NER estimates in sandy and muddy sediments for total phosphorus (unfiltered), PO₄-P, TKN (unfiltered), NO₂-N+NO₃-N, NH₃-N and organic N. These data, in conjunction with the forthcoming summer NER results, should improve the estimate of total nutrient exchange from the sediments of Hillsborough Bay.
