General Submission Rules
We welcome submissions from graduate students, scholars, authors, and experts in the fields of science fiction and fantasy. Articles must be original and may not have been previously published in any other media in order to be considered for publication in Alambique. Authors must own the copyright to the work being submitted or are authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. Authors are the initial owners of the copyrights to their works (an exception in the non-academic world to this might exist if the authors have, as a condition of employment, agreed to transfer copyright to their employer).
Any material submitted to Alambique cannot be under current review at another journal (electronic or print) and should not be submitted to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the decision process at Alambique.
Alambique does not charge article processing or submission fees. After publication, authors have the right to post pre-print or post-print versions of their article online, including on their personal, departmental, or institutional repository pages.
Manuscripts should be submitted via the Alambique online manuscript submission and review system.
Before submitting a paper, you must have a Bepress account. If you already have a Bepress log-in, you will be prompted to enter it and continue. New users will need to register for an account. First, click "Submit Manuscript" in the sidebar. Then click "Create Free Account" and enter your name, email address, and preferred password. You should immediately receive a confirmation email at the address provided; click on the link in the email and proceed with your submission. If you require assistance, please contact the Journal Staff at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Manuscript Style and Format
Format and Style
All manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format, following the latest MLA style, using endnotes.
Authors should provide an abstract of no more than 200 words, written in the language of the article. There is an area to copy-and-paste abstracts on the online submission form.
Manuscripts should include a brief author biography — 100 words maximum.
Authors should provide 4-6 keywords to facilitate online searching. Keywords should be entered where indicated on the online submission form.
Alambique publishes articles of about 10,000 words in length. Occasionally, the Journal will consider shorter or longer submissions on a case-by-case basis.
If you have forgotten your log-in information, simply click the "Forgot Password" link and follow the prompts to have it emailed to you.
If you wish to contact the Journal Staff regarding a submission, simply click the "My Account" link at the top of the page, followed by the title of your submission, and then "Email editor."
If you need to contact staff prior to submitting a manuscript, please email email@example.com. If you need additional help at any time, you can click on the help signs (question mark icons).
