Author Biography

Karen Gevirtz is associate professor of English at Seton Hall University and Executive President of the Aphra Behn Society for Women in the Arts, 1660-1830. In addition to articles on eighteenth-century women writers and Jane Austen, she is the author of Life after Death: Widows and the English Novel, Defoe to Austen (University of Delaware Press, 2005) and co-editor, with Mona Narain, of Gender and Space in British Literature, 1660-1820 (forthcoming from Ashgate, 2014). Her present book project is a study of women, the novel, and the scientific revolution.
