About This Journal

The IAVCEI Commission on Statistics in Volcanology (COSIV) was established in 2007 to promote advancement in the statistical analysis of volcanological data, especially with regard to improved forecasts of volcanic activity and its potential effects. Statistics in Volcanolog (SIV) was launched in 2012 (ISSN 2163-338X) as the open-access, peer-reviewed journal of the COSIV.

SIV publishes invited review articles, new research contributions, case studies using existing methods, and short method or howto articles. In addition to these articles, the submission of supplementary data sets, computer code, and related materials is encouraged.

SIV is supported by the University of South Florida Libraries. As a service to the research community, the USF Tampa Library’s commitment to true open access to scholarly information extends to authors. This means that there are no article or submission charges for Statistics in Volcanology. Content is archived in the Digital Commons Private LOCKSS Network and Portico, and backed up in the bepress Digital Commons system.

SIV publishes one volume per year, although papers are made available online as they complete the peer-review and editorial processes. Articles and related supplementary materials are completely open-access and authors retain copyright of their work.

IAVCEI is the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior, an association of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).
