Abstract

Reviews the book, Behavioral and Biochemical Issues in Substance Abuse edited by Frank R. George, Doris Clouet, and Barry Stimmel (1991). The determinant role of genetics on behavioral and biochemical responses in substance abuse is an extremely interesting and increasingly pertinent area of research. This is the main topic and focus of this book. This book provides an excellent overview of the power of genetic experimental designs, the results that can be generated as well as the cautions that must be observed in this approach. The editors have combined an independent collection of works in a cohesive, enlightening, thorough text that is an asset to the substance abuse field.
