Vision: The School of Mass Communications seeks to establish a reputation for excellence at the University of South Florida and among peer programs and practicing professionals throughout the United States for the teaching and study of mass communications.

Mission: The mission of the School of Mass Communications has four components. The first component is to prepare undergraduates to succeed in their various fields of endeavor--advertising, journalism, public relations or telecommunications--and to continue their professional and scholarly development through continuing educational pursuits. The school also seeks to provide graduate students with opportunities for advanced studies that form the basis for continuing scholarship and enhanced professional performance. In addition, the school seeks to engage in scholarship, creative activity and professional activities that contribute to the body of knowledge of mass communications and the practice of the various specialties in the field. Finally, the school's mission is to contribute to the enhancement of liberal arts education at the University of South Florida.
